Term 4: Mana Tū MITEY You

Our theme for Term 4 is "Mana Tū MITEY You".

We will be using the Mana Model (from MITEY - the Sir John Kirwan Foundation) to help us draw on feelings, emotions and who we are as individuals, peers, friends and family members. It is going to be a fun term of learning for us. It's all about using finding the right strategies to help us control our feelings and emotions.

Team 4 Fun Day Term 3

Team 4 had another fun day this term. We have had such a full on term that our teachers decided to give us something fun to do for a day.

Some of the activities included an inflatable obstacle course, bike track, karaoke and ice-creams, inflatable jousting, multisports and dodgeball.

We had so much fun and Room 6 want to say a huge thank you to everyone that helped on the day, as well as our teachers who planned something super fun for us to do.

Tī tī tōrea with Whaea Kiri

This term we have been learning the waiata 'E Papa'. Whaea Kiri decided to make it fun and added in some tī tī tōrea to make this learning process more interesting. Our team even got to share this item in our school assembly.

Thank you Whaea Kiri for making Te Reo Māori so fun!

MOTAT - Thank you helpers!

Last week on Friday, Room 6 went to MOTAT for the day. We had a group from KPMG volunteer their time so they could help us out, as well as two staff members from Pt England (You can check individual blogs to see their letters to their helpers).

Room 6 and Team 4 want to say a huge thank you to the KPMG volunteers - Mary and Rebecca. We appreciate the help! Hopefully we have another trip that you can come along to.

We also want to say a huge thank you to Mr Samuels and Miss Haare, who found out the day before that they were coming with us. Thank you for going with the flow! Check out the presentations from the children in their groups!

EPro8 Challenge

Team 4 was given the opportunity to take part in the EPro8 Challenge. Room 6 got to have their turn in Week 6. Our task was to construct a scarecrow that could stand at 1.6 metres tall, have realistic proportions and could move at least 2 metres. Miss Tuiā added some other specs that we could work with. We even had to come up with our own backstory, giving our scarecrow their own name and life.

Our class had to get into groups of 4. We tried to mix the groups up as much as we could. We worked very hard to construct these scarecrows. There were poles, nuts, bolts, ropes, coloured joiners, gears, axles, wheels and tools that we could use to construct our very own scarecrow.

The different groups were JHKW, Sentinel, Blue Gyals, NLB, Scarecrow 2000 and Spy Barbies. We had heaps of fun, working together as groups and getting to experiment with the different tools and equipment.
