Room 6 has been doing Te Reo Māori with the Year 6 cohort. This week the activity for our lesson was to create an online storyboard retelling the story of Kupe and the Wheke. Check out the storyboard that Mel created on 8bit art!
We are a class of year 5 and 6 learners, and our teacher is Miss Tuiā. We can't wait to share our learning with you!

Cybersmart - Smart Relationships
This term in CYBERSMART we are learning how to interact with others online and make smart decisions about what information we share.
First of all we talked about qualities of what we thought made a "smart relationship". Then we connected with our buddy's at Karoro and Paparore school...

Te Reo Māori with Whaea Francis
Room 6 loves going to Te Reo with Whaea Francis! It is amazing to learn new information using a different language, and we always have fun when we go.
Some of the things that Whaea Francis has taught us are Matariki stars and some of the history, Te Reo and how far Māori people have come through keeping the Reo alive, and we've even used Kupu to translate our own sentences.
We have even been able to work in collaborative groups, sharing ideas and learning new information each time.
Thank you Whaea Francis for having us!

Kindness and Kaitiakitanga
This week in our CyberSmart lesson, we watched Oat the Goat, discussed how we can be kind and things that we can do to be kind.
In last weeks assembly, Mr Burt's korero was 'wheoritia te atawhai - make kindness go viral'. We found that kindness is contagious and if we spread kindness where we can, the world can be a much happier place.

Describing a setting
Room 6 is learning how to write about setting. We are using descriptive words to make our writing sound more interesting. We are also making sure to describe accurately so that when the audience is reading our writing, they get a picture in their head that is similar to the one in the writers.
We hope you enjoy!
